PennDOT said lane closures are scheduled in both directions of U.S. 422 in North Coventry Township as crews install Intelligent Transportation Systems, commonly known as ITS, which use electronic monitoring and communications technology to improve traffic management and roadway safety.
Westbound U.S. 422 will be reduced by a lane between Keim Street and Hanover Street from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily between Monday, June 8, and Thursday, June 11.
Eastbound U.S. 422 will have a lane closure between Hanover Street and Keim Street from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the same period.
No detours are planned, but motorists should expect slower travel and periodic backups through the work zone.
The ITS work is part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of U.S. 422 and replace several bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road. The broader project is intended to improve traffic flow, safety, and long-term reliability along the corridor.
Drivers should plan extra time, remain alert for changing traffic patterns, and consider alternate routes if congestion develops.
All scheduled work is weather dependent.
