PennDOT Construction Blitz: I-76, I-95, and State Highways in Philadelphia and Surrounding Counties

GREATER PHILADELPHIA — Construction activities are scheduled on Interstate 76, Interstate 95, and other state highways in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, announced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The work schedules and locations are as follows:

Philadelphia

  • Monday, October 9, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a moving right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound I-76 between the City Avenue and the Spring Garden Street interchanges for vegetation management;
  • Monday, October 9, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, a moving right lane closure is scheduled on southbound I-95 between the Enterprise Avenue/Island Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia and the Ridley Park Interchange in Delaware County for vegetation management;
  • Friday, October 13, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a moving right lane closure is scheduled on westbound Interstate 676 between the 16th Street on ramp and the Ben Franklin Parkway Interchange for bridge inspection; and
  • Friday, October 13, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, a moving right lane closure is scheduled on eastbound I-676 between the Ben Franklin Parkway and the Broad Street interchanges for bridge inspection.

Bucks County

  • Wednesday, October 11, through late October, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Route 212 (Quakertown Road) between State Road and Molasses Way in Springfield Township for high friction surface treatment.

Chester County

  • Monday, October 9, through Friday, October 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Route 29 (State Road) between Aldham Road and Dickson Drive in Charlestown Township for high friction surface treatment; and
  • Wednesday, October 18, through Friday, October 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) at the Byers Road Intersection in Upper Uwchlan Township for curb installation.

Delaware County

  • Wednesday, October 11, through Friday, October 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Middletown Road between North Drive and the U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) Interchange in Middletown Township for pipe replacement; and
  • Tuesday, October 17, through Tuesday, October 31, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a moving lane closure is scheduled on Route 3 (West Chester Pike/Market Street) between the Chester County line and the Philadelphia line in Edgmont, Newtown, Marple, Haverford, and Upper Darby townships for crack sealing operations.

Montgomery County

  • Monday, October 9, through Tuesday, October 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Route 663 (Layfield Road) between Hoffmansville Road and Hill Road in New Hanover Township for ADA curb construction;
  • Monday, October 9, through Friday, October 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure is scheduled on Allentown Road between Reinert Road and Forty Foot Road in Towamencin Township for paving;
  • Thursday, October 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on U.S. 202 (Dekalb Street) between Mill Street and Schuylkill Avenue in Bridgeport Borough and Norristown for bridge inspection;
  • Friday, October 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on West Airy Street between Barbados Street and Astor Street in Norristown for bridge inspection;
  • Friday, October 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Ridge Pike between Level Road and Grange Avenue in Lower Providence Township for bridge inspection; and
  • Saturday, October 14, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Armand Hammer Boulevard between the U.S. 422 Interchange and Medical Drive in Lower Pottsgrove Township for bridge inspection.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
