SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Motorists in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties should gear up for a series of traffic disruptions as PECO Energy embarks on utility construction projects across several state highways. The work, scheduled to occur over the next two months, aims to upgrade essential infrastructure but will inevitably lead to traffic backups and delays.
In Bucks County, Doylestown Borough will see a weekday closure on Court Street between Main Street and Clinton Street starting Monday, April 8, through Friday, May 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During this period, drivers will be rerouted via Main Street, Business U.S. 202 (Oakland Avenue), and Business U.S. 202 (Clinton Street), a detour likely to impact daily commutes.
Chester County is not spared, with Phoenixville Borough’s Route 113 (Bridge Street) facing a weekday lane closure between Hall Street and Taylor Alley from Monday, April 1, through Friday, May 3. Additionally, East Coventry Township will experience lane closures with flagging on Sanatoga Road at the intersection with Old Schuylkill Road until the end of May, both scheduled within the same 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM window.
Delaware County’s Middletown Township will also undergo disruptions, particularly on Dutton Mill Road at the intersection with Old Middletown Road, where a weekday lane closure is planned for the entire month of April.
Meanwhile, Montgomery County will witness lane closures on Route 463 (Forty Foot Road) between Koffel Road and Towamencin Avenue in Hatfield and Towamencin townships, as well as on U.S. 202 (Markley Street) between Brown Street and Roberts Street in Norristown Borough. These closures, intended for the latter part of April, will further complicate travel for many.
PECO Energy is performing the work under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. Nevertheless, the expected lane closures and detours underscore the need for drivers to plan ahead. Motorists are advised to allocate extra time for their travels or seek alternative routes when possible, as delays and backups are anticipated.
