A Month-Long First Avenue Closure Could Disrupt Local Travel

SOUTH COATESVILLE, PA — Drivers in Chester County should prepare for a long-term detour as Pennsylvania American Water utility construction closes First Avenue in South Coatesville Borough for more than a month.

First Avenue will be closed between Modena Road and Newlinville Road from Monday, July 20, through Friday, Aug. 21, weather permitting.

During the closure, passenger vehicles will be directed to use Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway), Route 82 (Strode Avenue/Doe Run Road), and Strasburg Road.

Truck traffic will be directed to use Route 82 (1st Avenue), U.S. 30 (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass), Airport Road, Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway), Route 82 (Strode Avenue/Doe Run Road), and Strasburg Road.

Motorists should plan extra time, expect delays near the work area and along the detour routes, and seek alternate routes when possible.
