According to PennDOT, Swedesford Road will be closed between Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Route 29 (Morehall Road) from Wednesday, July 15, through Friday, Aug. 14, weather permitting.
During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Route 401 (Conestoga Road), Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue), and Route 29 (Morehall Road).
Local access will be maintained throughout the project, but motorists should expect delays and heavier traffic along the detour route. Plan extra time for travel and seek alternate routes when possible, especially during peak commuting periods.
The work will rehabilitate the 57-year-old bridge that carries Swedesford Road over the Chester Valley Trail. PennDOT said the project includes applying a latex modified concrete overlay, resealing deck joints, and making substructure repairs.
The bridge is 38 feet long, 49 feet wide, and carries more than 9,000 vehicles per day.
The repair is part of a $16.2 million PennDOT project to rehabilitate 14 bridges across Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
Drivers traveling near the work zone should remain alert for detour signage, changing traffic patterns, and construction crews working near the roadway.
