WEST CHESTER, PA — A powerful mix of history, reflection, and forward-looking conversation is set to take center stage as The Fund for Women and Girls celebrates a major milestone in Chester County.
The organization will kick off its 30th anniversary with a Women’s Rights Breakfast on Friday, May 29, bringing the community together to explore what “liberty and justice for all” has meant—and what it still demands—more than two centuries after the nation’s founding.
Held at the Chester County History Center—the same building that hosted Pennsylvania’s first Women’s Convention in 1852—the event will connect past and present through a program designed to inspire dialogue and action.
A Program Rooted in History and Real-Life Voices
Centered on the theme “Dare to Declare: Freedom and Justice Deferred,” the morning will feature a spoken word performance tracing American history through the lens of those whose rights have been challenged or delayed.
Attendees will also hear from a mother-daughter duo—Vernita Dorsey of WSFS Cares and LaVante’ Dorsey of Dorsey & Associates—who will share personal reflections on what freedom and opportunity look like across generations.
The program will close with a forward-looking conversation focused on practical steps individuals and communities can take to move closer to true equity.
“This is a celebration,” said Cheryl Brubaker, executive director of The Fund for Women and Girls. “And it’s also a time to reflect on the ideals these documents set out—and how far we still have to go.”
More Than a Milestone
The breakfast also launches the organization’s 30th Anniversary Changemakers Event Series, highlighting its ongoing work to advance gender equity across education, health and safety, and economic stability.
Through advocacy, grantmaking, and community partnerships, The Fund continues to focus on removing systemic barriers and expanding opportunities for women and girls across Chester County and beyond.
