WEST CHESTER, PA — Families, friends, and advocates will lace up their sneakers and gather in West Chester this month for a day centered on hope, community, and support for those living with a rare genetic disorder.
The eighth annual Eastern PA/DE Step Forward to Cure TSC Walk is returning to East High School Stadium Field on Saturday, May 16, bringing together local supporters to raise awareness and funding for tuberous sclerosis complex, commonly known as TSC.
The event is part of a nationwide campaign organized by the TSC Alliance, with walks taking place across the country during Tuberous Sclerosis Awareness Month.
Walking Together for Awareness and Support
More than just a fundraiser, organizers say the walk creates an important opportunity for families affected by TSC to connect with others who understand the challenges of the condition.
TSC is a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in multiple organs throughout the body, often affecting the brain, kidneys, lungs, heart, skin, and eyes. The condition can lead to seizures, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, and lifelong medical complications.
“Step Forward to Cure TSC events provide an opportunity for families and supporters to come together, raise awareness and make a profound impact,” said Kari Luther Rosbeck, president and CEO of the TSC Alliance.
Building Community While Funding Research
The national Step Forward to Cure TSC campaign has raised more than $24 million since its launch, helping fund research, advocacy, education, and support services for individuals and families impacted by the disorder.
This year’s West Chester event is expected to draw local families, advocacy teams, and supporters from across the region for an afternoon that blends fundraising with encouragement and connection.
Participants can register in advance online or sign up on-site the day of the event.
