MORGANTOWN, PA — Lions International District 14-P is organizing a volunteer food-packing event on November 21 in Morgantown to prepare about 10,000 meals for distribution through food banks serving Berks and Chester counties.
The district, which represents Lions clubs across both counties, is inviting residents, businesses, community organizations, and elected officials to participate in the effort at Conestoga Church, 2779 Main Street, beginning at 10 a.m.
The initiative will bring volunteers together to assemble meals for local food banks, supporting hunger-relief efforts in communities throughout the two-county region.
District Governor Paula Hilbert said the event is intended to expand community participation in the organization’s service activities while providing direct assistance to residents facing food insecurity.
“We want people in our communities to come out and serve alongside us,” Hilbert said. “This is an opportunity to help provide meals to our neighbors in need while also seeing firsthand what Lions are all about.”
The district is encouraging participation from families, civic organizations, businesses and local government representatives, alongside existing Lions members.
The November event is part of the organization’s broader community service activities, which include hunger relief, vision programs, youth initiatives, disaster assistance and environmental projects.
Lions International District 14-P serves Berks and Chester counties and operates through local clubs that organize volunteer projects addressing community needs.
The food-packing initiative also aligns with Lions International President Mark Lyons’ annual theme, “Rooted in Service,” and Hilbert’s district theme, “Cooking Up Service.”
The event is open to the public, with volunteers invited to participate in packaging meals for regional food banks.
The food-packing session is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, at 10 a.m. at Conestoga Church, 2779 Main Street, Morgantown, PA.
