THORNDALE, PA — A Chester County nonprofit serving adults with disabilities has received its largest individual donation in a decade, a $100,000 gift that leaders say will immediately expand job training and support services across the region.

Handi-Crafters Inc. announced that the donation from Andrew Bentley will directly support more than 250 individuals each year through vocational training, competitive employment opportunities, community socialization, and essential services throughout Chester County.

The gift ranks as the largest individual contribution to the organization in the past ten years and the third largest in its 65-year history, according to the nonprofit. Officials said the funding will help sustain and grow person-centered programs designed to promote independence, accountability, and long-term employment outcomes.

Executive Director April Ennis-Pierson said the donation arrives at a critical moment as the organization prepares to mark its 65th anniversary in 2026, strengthening its ability to serve adults with disabilities through meaningful work and community connection.

Bentley, 41, described the gift as a reflection of his belief in the value of work and opportunity. He has longstanding relationships at Handi-Crafters, including friendships with individuals who participate in its programs, and said seeing the impact of employment firsthand motivated his support.

Handi-Crafters is among the largest employment-focused disability nonprofits in Southeast Pennsylvania, helping hundreds of individuals each year access job opportunities in the community and at its Thorndale production center. Founded in 1961, the organization has remained focused on expanding supported employment and vocational training for people with disabilities throughout Chester County.
