WYOMISSING, PA — A full day of calls kept Wyomissing police moving from the pre-dawn hours into late Sunday night, with officers responding to 22 incidents on February 8 that ranged from repeated commercial alarm activations and suspicious-activity checks to a crash-report request, a loose-dog call, and a string of traffic stops that produced both warnings and citations, according to the department’s basic incident listing.

The day began with back-to-back burglar-alarm responses at businesses, with officers repeatedly finding secure buildings and no immediate signs of a break-in. At 2:25 a.m., police were dispatched to Berkshire Boulevard for an alarm at a business and reported the doors were secure with no employees on site, classifying the incident as a false alarm. Minutes later, at 2:53 a.m., officers responded to Bern Road for an interior alarm; the exterior was secure and nothing suspicious was observed, with that call also cleared as a false alarm.

At 3:07 a.m., police handled a non-reportable crash documentation request involving another agency’s vehicle. The log states West Reading Police asked Wyomissing to compose a non-reportable, non-injury crash report for an incident involving one of their vehicles striking a snowbank or curb earlier that day. The entry notes the incident occurred within city limits and that the vehicle was damaged but operable.

By early morning, officers were dispatched to Park Road North at 6:35 a.m. for a trespass call involving a male who was refusing to leave a location. Police reported resolving the issue and cleared the call without further action.

Later, at 9:56 a.m., officers responded to Reading Boulevard near Lake Avenue for a loose dog complaint. The dog was returned to its owner, police reported.

Just after 10:00 a.m., a caller reported a reckless driver near Clayton Avenue and Penn Avenue. Police noted that by the time officers were dispatched, the complainant was no longer following the vehicle, and the matter was logged as “gone on arrival.”

As midday approached, officers handled two separate suspicious-activity calls involving vehicles left running for extended periods. At 11:33 a.m., police were dispatched to Hill Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had been running for a long time. Officers contacted the owner, who then turned it off. At 12:11 p.m., police responded to Cambridge Avenue for a suspicious vehicle that had allegedly been left running since midnight. The log indicates the vehicle was a rental, doors were locked, the rental company was contacted to identify the renter, and the issue was resolved.

At 12:10 p.m., Wyomissing police also assisted Spring Township Police on Fairview Street in West Lawn for what was described as a possible burglary, with the log indicating Spring Township handled the call.

Early afternoon included two parking-related calls. At 1:01 p.m., police responded to Northfield Road after receiving a report of an abandoned vehicle. Officers found the vehicle properly parked, with registration and inspection current through March 2026, and the incident was closed with no further action. At 2:13 p.m., officers responded to Penn Avenue for a parking complaint, and the vehicle owner was cited.

Later in the afternoon, at 2:50 p.m., police were dispatched to State Hill Road for a structure investigation reported as water pouring into a building and threatening electrical systems. Police and fire personnel arrived and learned of a second broken water pipe, with the log stating the Wyomissing Fire Department handled the assignment.

The evening brought an automatic fire alarm and multiple traffic stops. At 6:57 p.m., police responded to Berkshire Boulevard for a fire alarm at a business; the scene was checked by fire company personnel. At 8:10 p.m., a traffic stop on Spring Street at Park Road North for a lighting violation resulted in citations after police reported the vehicle lacked required inspection and emissions and the driver’s license was under suspension; the log states citations were issued and the license was seized for PennDOT. At 9:30 p.m., another lighting-violation stop on Penn Avenue at Park Road North ended with a warning notice. At 9:54 p.m., a stop on State Hill Road near a ramp for a traffic-signal violation resulted in a citation.

The department also logged a special detail beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Reading Boulevard described as an “Aggressive Driver DUI detail,” running into the early hours.

Late-night calls returned again to business-alarm responses. At 10:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to State Hill Road for an interior motion alarm, found the exterior secure, and noted nothing suspicious, classifying the incident as a false alarm. Near midnight, traffic enforcement continued: at 11:26 p.m., a stop on North Wyomissing Boulevard at 4th Street for an illegal U-turn ended with a warning. At 11:31 p.m., a stop on Route 222 at State Hill Road for speeding produced citations, with police also noting expired inspection and emissions. At 11:39 p.m., a stop on Route 222 at a ramp for a lane-movement violation ended with a warning. At 11:42 p.m., officers responded to Bern Road for another alarm call, checked the area, and found the building secure, recording it as a false alarm.
