West Chester Police Respond to Disturbance, Alleged Suspect Charged with Resisting Arrest and Assault

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department responded to a disturbance report at 601 Downingtown Pike in the early morning hours of July 9, 2023. Jaheed Harris, a 22-year-old male from West Chester, was identified as the alleged cause of the disturbance.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that Harris had an active warrant for his arrest. However, when officers attempted to take him into custody, Harris reportedly resisted arrest and engaged in a physical altercation with the officers, resulting in injury to one of them.

As a result of the incident, Jaheed Harris has been charged with Resisting Arrest and Simple Assault. On December 15, 2023, Harris waived his preliminary hearing. The case will now proceed to the Chester County Common Pleas Court for further action.

It is important to note that all charges against Harris are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
