Police Hunt Damaged SUV Linked to Deadly Lancaster Avenue Hit-and-Run

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help identifying a vehicle believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed a life early last month in West Philadelphia.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 3:44 a.m. on December 20, 2025, in the 5600 block of Lancaster Avenue. Investigators allege a vehicle struck a person and fled the scene, leaving the victim fatally injured.

Police said the vehicle sought for investigation is a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE, red or burgundy in color, bearing Pennsylvania registration MXB-1835. Authorities believe the SUV is likely to have significant front-end damage, particularly to the passenger-side fender and headlight area, with the passenger-side headlight believed to have been damaged in the crash.

Investigators reported the vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on the 6000 block of Lancaster Avenue shortly after the alleged collision. Police emphasized that the left-side photograph released in connection with the case is for reference purposes only.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is urging anyone who may have information about the vehicle or the incident to come forward. Tips can be directed to investigators at 215-685-3180 or 215-685-3181, or by calling 911.

The investigation remains active. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant who may be identified in connection with this case is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
