WILMINGTON, DE — A Philadelphia man is facing multiple felony charges in Delaware after investigators say he impersonated a federal agent and attempted to rob a person in a Wilmington-area bank parking lot, then fled in a stolen vehicle linked to another active criminal case.
According to the Delaware State Police, 49-year-old Khar Abdulah was arrested following a joint investigation with the New Castle County Police Department and law enforcement in Philadelphia. Authorities say the case stems from an attempted robbery that occurred on May 27, 2025, but was not reported until two days later.
Detectives say the incident took place outside the PNC Bank located at 1704 Marsh Road, where the victim was allegedly approached by a man who demanded money and claimed to be an FBI agent. The suspect reportedly indicated he was armed, although no weapon was shown, and made unsettling remarks suggesting he had been tracking the victim. A GPS device was later found affixed to the victim’s vehicle.
The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle that police later determined had been stolen from within New Castle County Police jurisdiction. That vehicle was also connected to a separate investigation involving kidnapping and robbery, prompting collaboration between departments. Through coordinated efforts, investigators identified Abdulah as the individual believed to be involved in both cases.
Abdulah was taken into custody in Philadelphia on July 2 with the assistance of the Philadelphia Police Department. He was extradited to Delaware on July 17 and formally charged with first-degree attempted robbery, criminal impersonation of a police officer, and violation of privacy.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
As with all criminal proceedings, it is essential to note that a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
