WYOMISSING, PAWyomissing police responded to a heavy wave of calls on Monday and Tuesday, December 22 and 23, including an alleged attempted armed robbery and a separate alleged armed robbery that ended with a suspect taken into custody, according to the department’s incident listing.

The most serious activity was reported early Monday. Police were dispatched at about 2:30 a.m. to Park Road North for an incident classified as an attempted robbery. According to the report narrative, a clerk told officers the business was the victim of an attempted armed robbery.

Less than an hour later, at about 3:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to Woodland Road for an incident classified as a robbery. Police described it as an armed robbery at the location and reported that a male was “soon located and taken into custody.” The two cases were documented as separate incidents, with police noting the first report should also be linked to the second.

The robbery investigation appeared to ripple through other calls during the overnight hours. Around 4:54 a.m., police were dispatched to Penn Avenue for a reported disturbance involving a female. The report noted the response was delayed due to the earlier robbery call and that the female left without incident.

Beyond the robbery-related activity, the two-day log reflects a mix of public safety calls, traffic enforcement, alarms, and several motor vehicle crashes.

Police responded to multiple burglar alarms across both days, including calls on Tulpehocken Road, Ridgewood Road, Park Road North, and Reed Avenue. Several were deemed false alarms or accidental activations after officers made contact with employees or found doors secured.

Traffic enforcement also featured prominently. Officers issued warnings and citations for alleged violations including speeding on Route 222, traffic signal violations on State Hill Road ramps, stop sign violations, lighting and headlight issues, high-beam use, failure to use a turn signal, and expired registration and driver’s license issues. One stop late Tuesday on Penn Avenue near Belmont Avenue resulted in a citation after an officer reported the driver was speeding and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, displayed “minor signs of impairment,” and became uncooperative; police said the registered owner drove the vehicle home.

Police handled a range of vehicle-related calls and crashes, including reportable accidents on Wyomissing Boulevard near Parkside Drive North, State Hill Road near the Greenwood Mall, and multiple collisions involving Penn Avenue and Park Road North. One crash on Reading Boulevard near Wyoming Avenue on Tuesday was reported as a two-vehicle accident with an injury, with one vehicle towed. Another reportable crash later Tuesday on Reading Boulevard near Cambridge Avenue occurred during rainy conditions and also involved a tow.

Police also documented a domestic incident Tuesday on Christopher Drive that resulted in one party being transported for medical treatment, with charges to be filed, according to the report.

In addition, officers responded to quality-of-life and public-assist calls, including a report of double-parked vehicles on Hill Avenue, a disabled vehicle blocking traffic that was pushed out of the roadway, and a public service call for a tree branch hanging down in the Rose Virginia Road area, with the borough crew notified.
