WILMINGTON, DE — A 19-year-old Wilmington man is facing multiple firearms-related charges after police allegedly discovered two loaded handguns and a substantial quantity of marijuana during a routine traffic stop in the early morning hours of July 18.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers from the Uniformed Services Division initiated a vehicle stop at approximately 2:39 a.m. near the intersection of West 4th Street and Delamore Place. During the encounter, officers made contact with a passenger later identified as Malikye Boyer, who was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities report the recovery of two loaded firearms—a 9mm handgun reported stolen and a .380 caliber handgun—along with approximately 185 grams of marijuana.
Following the incident, Boyer was formally charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and receiving a stolen firearm.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with bail set at $16,000 cash-only.
