Wilmington Drug Investigation Leads to Heroin Charges

WILMINGTON, DE — A 28-year-old man faces two drug charges after Wilmington Police allege officers observed him conducting drug transactions in the 900 block of Kirkwood Street and recovered heroin during the investigation.

Police identified the defendant as Andre Thomas, 28.

At approximately 11:58 a.m. Aug. 14, members of the Wilmington Police Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were conducting an investigation into violence and drug activity in the area, according to police.

Investigators allege they observed Thomas engaged in drug transactions before making contact with him. Police reported recovering approximately 0.12 grams of heroin and taking Thomas into custody without incident.

After Thomas was transported to police headquarters, officers allegedly found him in possession of an additional 0.03 grams of heroin, according to police.

Thomas was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,000 secured bail, police reported.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
