Teen Charged After Two Injured in Wilmington Salon Stabbing

WILMINGTON, DE — A 15-year-old Wilmington girl has been charged after two people were injured during a stabbing incident at a Wilmington hair salon Sunday afternoon, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers responded at approximately 4:30 p.m. June 7 to Fransiah African Braids on North Market Street for a report of a stabbing, state police said.

According to investigators, the teen was having her hair braided when she allegedly became upset with the results. Police reported that the teen allegedly threw items inside the business before taking a pair of scissors from a hairdresser and entering a restroom.

A short time later, the teen allegedly exited the restroom and confronted the stylist while threatening her with the scissors, according to state police. Following a verbal altercation, investigators allege the teen stabbed the hairdresser multiple times.

Police said a bystander who attempted to intervene and restrain the teen was also stabbed during the incident.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to state police.

Responding troopers located the teen outside the business and took her into custody without incident, police reported.

According to state police, the juvenile was charged with second-degree assault, aggravated menacing, third-degree assault, and disorderly conduct. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families on $10,100 secured bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
