WILMINGTON, DE — A 32-year-old man was taken into custody after officers reported observing suspicious behavior in a Wilmington neighborhood, according to police.
Wilmington Police said the incident occurred on April 27 at approximately 1:42 p.m. in the 700 block of North Washington Street, where members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were conducting operations.
According to police, officers observed a male subject acting suspiciously and made contact with the individual, later identified as Rashad Walker, 32.
Police reported that Walker was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities said officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and five Percocet pills during the encounter.
Walker has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, failure to comply with taking of photos and fingerprints, and possession of a controlled substance.
According to police, Walker was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after bail was set at $13,100 secured.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
