Stolen West Chester Gun Found in Wilmington, Police Say

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man who was also wanted in Pennsylvania on an unrelated matter faces multiple drug and firearms charges following the execution of a search warrant earlier this month, according to Wilmington Police.

Police reported that members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division and the Crisis Management Tactical Team executed a search warrant in the 800 block of West 7th Street at approximately 6:02 a.m. on June 12 as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

According to investigators, officers took 29-year-old Amir Pierce into custody without incident during the operation.

Police said the search led to the recovery of two 9mm handguns, including one that had been reported stolen from West Chester, Pennsylvania. Investigators also reported recovering ammunition, firearm magazines, approximately 1.95 grams of heroin, approximately 0.2 grams of crack cocaine, and drug-packaging materials.

According to police, Pierce was also wanted in Pennsylvania on an unrelated matter at the time of his arrest.

Pierce has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, five counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records show Pierce was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after bail was set at $203,400 cash only.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
