PHILADELPHIA, PA — Charles Thomas Clark, 31, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for his role in the 2024 gunpoint robbery of an Abington credit union and a subsequent police chase that ended in a crash.
U.S. District Judge Juan R. Sánchez also sentenced Clark to five years of supervised release.
A federal jury convicted Clark in October 2025 of aiding and abetting armed bank robbery and aiding and abetting the use, carrying and brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence. He had been indicted in April 2024.
According to court filings and evidence presented at trial, Clark and co-defendant Emmanuel Glass entered the American Heritage Credit Union branch on the 1300 block of Old York Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2024.
The men held employees at gunpoint while demanding money, placing cash in a McDonald’s paper bag and taking deposited checks, prosecutors said.
Employees testified that Clark warned them against activating alarms, telling them, “It’s not worth your life,” and threatening that they would be shot if they moved.
Clark and Glass fled in a gold 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. After police located the vehicle several miles from the credit union, Clark drove away at high speed, striking multiple vehicles before crashing into a marked Abington Police vehicle, according to prosecutors.
Both men fled on foot after the crash and were apprehended shortly afterward.
Glass pleaded guilty in July 2025 and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 21.
The Abington Township Police Department and FBI Philadelphia’s Fort Washington Resident Agency investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Catherine S. Dos Santos and Meghan A. Farley prosecuted it.
