HATBORO, PA — A 20-year-old man wanted in connection with an alleged knife assault at a Hatboro McDonald’s was arrested Saturday after police said he attempted to evade law enforcement on foot.
Hatboro police began investigating Sept. 12 after receiving a report of an assault that allegedly occurred two days earlier at the McDonald’s at 121 N. York Road.
Police said interviews and surveillance video showed the victim sitting inside a vehicle when Dantz Zachary Jenkins approached and initiated a confrontation. Investigators allege Jenkins then produced a knife and began cutting the victim’s clothing before leaving the area with several associates.
An arrest warrant for Jenkins was issued Sept. 18 by Magisterial District Judge Todd Stephens of District Court 38-1-22.
Police reported arresting Jenkins on Sept. 26 after he attempted to flee from law enforcement on foot. Hatboro police credited surrounding law enforcement agencies with assisting in his apprehension.
Jenkins is charged with simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and harassment.
Following his arraignment, Jenkins was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, according to police. A preliminary hearing is pending.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
