PHILADELPHIA, PA — Two foreign nationals were sentenced in July for illegally reentering the United States after prior deportations, with both men ordered removed from the country again after completing their prison sentences, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced.
One defendant, Rene Vasquez-Ladino, 53, a Guatemalan national, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Joshua D. Wolson to 15 months in prison followed by one year of supervised release after pleading guilty to illegal reentry.
According to federal prosecutors, Vasquez-Ladino was first removed from the United States in May 2015 under an immigration judge’s order. Border Patrol agents encountered him in Texas later that year, where he pleaded guilty to illegal reentry in the Southern District of Texas and served a 60-day prison sentence before being deported again in November 2015.
Federal authorities also noted that Vasquez-Ladino was arrested by New York State Police in September 2019 on a driving while intoxicated charge and later failed to appear in Yonkers City Court, resulting in a bench warrant.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement learned in March 2025 that Vasquez-Ladino was serving a prison sentence on firearms convictions in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. A federal grand jury indicted him on the illegal reentry charge in January 2026, and he pleaded guilty in March. Upon completing his federal sentence, he will again be removed from the United States.
In a separate case, U.S. District Judge Karen Spencer Marston sentenced Walter Eduardo Enriquez-Arzaga, 29, a Mexican national, to time served—approximately five and a half months—after he pleaded guilty to illegal reentry.
Federal prosecutors alleged that Enriquez-Arzaga had previously been removed from the United States three times: in September 2017 following a firearms conviction in Texas, in February 2018 after a federal illegal reentry conviction in New Mexico, and in March 2024 following an encounter with ICE in Iowa.
ICE located Enriquez-Arzaga in February 2026 while he was in police custody in Northampton County. He was indicted on the federal illegal reentry charge in March and pleaded guilty in June. Having completed his sentence, he will be removed from the United States.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations investigated both cases. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark Dubnoff and Nicholas DiMarco prosecuted the matters.
