Hatboro Woman Accused of Repeatedly Kicking Police Officer

HATBORO, PA — A 23-year-old woman faces aggravated assault and other charges after Hatboro police allege she repeatedly tried to kick an officer while being taken into custody following a reported domestic disturbance.

Hatboro police said officers were dispatched Sunday, Oct. 4, to Hatters Court in the Woodwinds Condo Complex for a domestic disturbance in progress. While responding, officers received information that approximately seven people were involved in a fistfight in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they did not find a large-scale fight occurring, according to police.

During the investigation, officers determined that Emily Abbruzzi, 23, allegedly violated statutes related to disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

As officers attempted to take Abbruzzi into custody, she allegedly kicked an officer in the leg, according to police. After she was handcuffed, police allege she attempted to kick the same officer in the chest while being placed in a patrol vehicle.

Police further allege that while officers were securing Abbruzzi with a seat belt, she attempted to kick the officer a third time, this time toward the officer’s face.

Abbruzzi was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on police, simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

She was arraigned Oct. 5 and bail was set at $1,000. A preliminary hearing is pending.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
