PHILADELPHIA, PA — An Emmaus woman who is a Philippine citizen and lawful U.S. resident pleaded guilty Wednesday to illegally voting in Pennsylvania’s 2024 general election, a federal offense because she is not a U.S. citizen, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Evelyn Miller, 37, entered the guilty plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Scott M. Reid, federal prosecutors said. Under federal and Pennsylvania law, only U.S. citizens may vote in Pennsylvania.
Miller is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 16.
She faces a maximum possible sentence of one year in prison and one year of supervised release, along with a $100,000 fine and a $25 special assessment. The statutory maximum does not indicate what sentence the court will ultimately impose.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI.
