Brutal Parking Garage Assault in West Chester Leaves Victim Hospitalized

WEST CHESTER, PA — A West Chester man is facing multiple charges following an alleged assault that occurred in the early hours of December 7, 2024, in a local parking garage.

Authorities report that the incident took place at approximately 1:00 a.m. in the Bicentennial Parking Garage on South High Street in West Chester Borough. The assault left the victim hospitalized with injuries.

Through an investigation conducted by the West Chester Borough Police Department, 32-year-old Mikal Upshur was identified as the alleged assailant. On May 15, 2025, Upshur surrendered himself to police. He was transported to Chester County Prison, where he awaited a preliminary hearing scheduled before District Court 15-1-04.

Upshur is facing charges including aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and related offenses.

Officials remind the public that all individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
