Berks County Man Accused of Firing Gun Through Apartment Ceiling During Disturbance

WYOMISSING, PA — Authorities have charged a Berks County man with discharging a firearm into an occupied residence following an incident earlier this month at a Wyomissing apartment complex.

On July 7, 2025, officers from the Spring Township Police Department responded to a report of gunfire at the Wil-O-Hill Apartments, located in the 1900 block of Van Reed Road. According to police, it was reported that a ground-floor resident allegedly discharged a firearm twice, with the rounds passing through the ceiling and into the apartment above.

Following an investigation into the incident, officers charged Eric Sloan, 53,  with one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure. Police have not indicated whether anyone was injured during the alleged incident.

Sloan was arrested the same day, and no additional charges have been announced at this time.
