After-Hours Park Check Leads to Gun Charge in Trainer

TRAINER, PA — A Chester man is facing firearm and drug charges after police said officers found a loaded handgun during an after-hours vehicle investigation at Henry Johnson Park.

According to the Trainer Borough Police Department, officers investigated a vehicle at the park at about 11:43 p.m. July 3 after observing it there after hours.

During the investigation, officers allegedly recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380-caliber handgun and a quantity of suspected marijuana.

Police identified the suspect as Charles Creekmur, 36, of Chester. Investigators alleged Creekmur was carrying the concealed firearm without a valid Pennsylvania license to carry.

Creekmur was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Trainer Borough Police Department for processing.

Creekmur was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records show Creekmur was arraigned July 4 before Magisterial District Judge Dawn Vann, who set bail at $75,000.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
