Your Evening Commute Alert: I-95 Lane Closures in South Philly Next Week

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced nighttime lane closures next week on northbound I-95 in South Philadelphia as part of a major $37.4 million initiative to repair and maintain 27 bridges along this critical corridor.

From Wednesday, June 11, through Friday, June 13, lane closures will be in effect between Packer Avenue and Wolf Street from 9 PM to 5 AM the following morning. During the same time frame, the ramp connecting the Walt Whitman Bridge to northbound I-95 will also experience lane restrictions.

The scheduled work, which includes barrier installation and line striping, is aimed at ensuring the long-term safety, functionality, and mobility of the infrastructure along one of the region’s busiest routes.

PennDOT has advised motorists to plan for delays when traveling in the area and to allocate extra time for commutes. “Backups and delays will occur,” the department stated, while reminding drivers that all activities are subject to weather conditions.
