Wilmington Police Arrest 14-Year-Old Girl in Connection with Stolen Vehicle

Arrested

WILMINGTON, DE — A 14-year-old female has been arrested by Wilmington Police and charged with several offenses following the recovery of a stolen vehicle late last week.

The arrest occurred on December 16, around 11:11 p.m., when a patrolling officer spotted an occupied stolen vehicle in the vicinity of 3rd and Madison Streets. The driver exited the car and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by police.

The girl, whose identity has not been disclosed due to her age, faces multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. She has also been cited for a number of traffic violations related to the incident.

Following her arraignment in New Castle County Family Court, she was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center. The court set her bail at $4,502.

While the charges against the young defendant are serious, an arrest or a criminal complaint is not an indication of guilt. Every suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
