Wilmington Man Arrested For Criminal Mischief Charges

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a 63-year-old man, Joseph Truono, on charges of criminal mischief following an investigation into repeated vandalism at a local business.

According to the criminal complaint, the  Uniformed Services Division first responded to the incident on September 5, when profane language was spray-painted on the front of a business located in the 1700 block of Augustine Cutoff. The same business was vandalized again on September 26, prompting another response from the Uniformed Services Division.

Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to the case. Through his detailed investigation, Detective Shea identified Truono as a suspect and successfully obtained warrants for his arrest.

Truono was taken into custody without incident on October 6. He has been charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief Over $5,000. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 20, Truono was released after posting $4,000 secured bail.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
