Weekend Lane Closures Planned on Eastbound I-76 in University City

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that milling and paving operations will close a lane on eastbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in University City beginning Friday night, September 26.

From 8:00 PM Friday, September 26, to 5:00 AM Monday, September 29, the right lane and shoulder will be closed on eastbound I-76 between Walnut Street and the Grays Ferry/University Avenue exit (Exit 346B). The Walnut Street ramp to eastbound I-76 will also be closed during this period, with traffic detoured via Walnut Street, University Avenue, and 34th Street to rejoin the expressway.

PennDOT cautions that heavy delays are expected on I-76 and advises motorists to use alternate routes such as I-676 and I-95 or I-476 and I-95. Electronic message boards will provide real-time updates on closures.
