KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Vertex, Inc. (NASDAQ: VERX) appointed DataRobot Chief Executive Officer Debanjan Saha to its board of directors, adding an executive with cloud and artificial-intelligence experience as the tax-software company expands its AI strategy.
Saha’s appointment takes effect Oct. 7, 2026, and increases the Vertex board from nine to 10 members. Eight directors are independent.
Saha has led DataRobot since September 2022, overseeing its shift from machine-learning software toward agentic AI products for enterprise customers.
He previously served as vice president and general manager of data analytics at Google Cloud and held a similar leadership role at Amazon Web Services, where he led database services. Earlier in his career, he held executive and technical positions at IBM.
Vertex Chief Executive Officer Christopher Young tied the appointment to the company’s push to embed AI more deeply into its indirect-tax and compliance systems.
“As companies increasingly embed AI into the systems and processes that run their business, that insight will be invaluable to our board and leadership team,” Young said.
Saha said indirect tax is well suited to expanded use of AI because it touches a broad range of enterprise transactions and can support greater automation and analysis.
He also serves on the board of Sorenson Communications and sits on its audit committee.
Saha holds master’s and doctoral degrees in computer science from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery.
