Two Road Closures Could Complicate Delaware County Commutes

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Drivers in Middletown and Edgmont townships should prepare for daytime road closures and detours beginning Friday, August 14, as PennDOT conducts base repairs on Elwyn Road and Delchester Road.

Elwyn Road will be closed and detoured on weekdays between Route 352 (Middletown Road) and Baltimore Pike from Friday, August 14, through Tuesday, August 18.

Drivers will be directed to use Route 352 (Middletown Road) and Baltimore Pike to travel around the Elwyn Road closure.

Beginning Monday, August 17, Delchester Road will be closed between Gradyville Road and Route 3 (West Chester Pike). The restriction is scheduled to continue through Friday, August 21.

Drivers will be directed to use Gradyville Road, Providence Road and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) to travel around the Delchester Road closure.

Because the two schedules overlap, motorists traveling through the affected areas should plan extra time and expect possible backups along the detour routes. Local access will be maintained at all times.
