NORRISTOWN, PA — Drivers should prepare for traffic shifts and significant delays on Germantown Pike and Township Line Road as construction advances near U.S. 202 (DeKalb Pike) in Norristown, East Norriton and Whitpain townships.

On Thursday, traffic on Germantown Pike will shift to the newly constructed side of the roadway between Mill Road and Hannah Avenue. One lane will remain open in each direction through the work zone.
On Friday, traffic will shift on Township Line Road between Swede Road and Butchers Lane. One lane will remain open in each direction while crews reconstruct the eastern side of the U.S. 202 (DeKalb Pike) intersection and rebuild the center and westbound lanes between U.S. 202 and Swede Road.
No detour was announced, but drivers should plan extra time because backups and delays are expected. Seek alternate routes when practical and remain alert for changing lane patterns, construction vehicles and workers.
The operations are weather dependent. If postponed, PennDOT plans to reschedule the traffic shifts during the week of August 10.
The work is part of a $55 million project to improve, widen and reconstruct approximately 1.8 miles of roadway in Norristown and East Norriton and Whitpain townships.
That project is one phase of a broader program to reconstruct and improve a 9.1-mile section of U.S. 202 and selected intersections between Johnson Highway in Norristown and Route 309 in Montgomery Township.
