OAKS, PA — SEI (NASDAQ: SEIC) launched a U.S. large-cap exchange-traded fund designed to limit concentration risk in traditional market-cap-weighted indexes, expanding the investment manager’s ETF lineup with the first product in a planned series of research-based strategies.
The SEI Ang Research Enhanced U.S. Large Cap ETF (NASDAQ: ANGU) seeks to track the iSTOXX Ang Research Enhanced U.S. Large Cap Index before fees and expenses.
The underlying index was developed by STOXX Ltd., part of the ISS STOXX group, in collaboration with factor-investing researcher Andrew Ang.
Rather than relying solely on market capitalization to determine portfolio weights, the index incorporates value, quality and momentum factors while seeking to maintain close alignment with the broader U.S. large-cap equity market.
The approach is intended to address concentration that can develop in market-cap-weighted indexes as the largest companies account for increasing portions of an index. SEI is positioning ANGU as a core equity allocation for financial advisers seeking broad U.S. exposure with additional factor-based portfolio controls.
“The next generation of factor investing is not simply about owning factors, but about applying the latest research to how those factors are defined, combined, and implemented,” Ang stated.
He described the strategy as seeking exposure to “the right factors at the right time” through changes in factor measurement and exposure management.
Robert Hum, SEI’s head of investment product and commercialization, stated that the fund is intended for investors looking beyond conventional market-cap-weighted strategies.
ANGU is the first ETF in a planned suite of research-enhanced investment products from SEI. The company did not provide details on the number, timing or investment mandates of additional funds in the planned series.
