OAKS, PA — SEI (NASDAQ: SEIC) has appointed veteran asset-management executive Nathan Shetty as chief investment officer, a move that places a longtime multi-asset portfolio leader at the center of the company’s effort to expand investment offerings for institutional and wealth-management clients.
Shetty joins SEI after serving as senior managing director and head of multi-asset at Nuveen Asset Management, where he oversaw the design and management of global multi-asset investment strategies and served on the firm’s Global Investment Committee.
The appointment comes as investment managers face growing demand for customized portfolio solutions, outcome-oriented strategies and multi-asset approaches designed to navigate increasingly complex market conditions.
As CIO, Shetty will lead SEI’s global investment organization and oversee investment research, portfolio management, operations and strategic partnerships across the firm’s asset management platform.
Michael Lane, head of SEI’s Asset Management business, said Shetty’s experience building multi-asset investment solutions aligns with the company’s strategic priorities.
“Nathan brings deep experience leading global, multi-asset investment organizations and a successful track record of building customized solutions across asset classes, investment styles, and portfolio structures,” Lane said.
Before joining Nuveen, Shetty served as global co-head of portfolio management for investment solutions at UBS Global Asset Management, where he oversaw approximately $110 billion in multi-asset, multi-manager and outcome-oriented portfolios.
He also held senior investment leadership roles at Mesirow Financial, Mountain Pacific Group and Pareto Partners, and began his career at IBM Global Services.
Shetty said SEI’s scale and investment platform provide an opportunity to expand the firm’s investment capabilities as client needs evolve.
“I see significant opportunity to build on that foundation and deliver solutions that are adaptive, thoughtful, and aligned with the evolving needs of clients,” he said.
The leadership change underscores the growing importance of multi-asset investing across the asset-management industry, where firms are increasingly competing on portfolio construction expertise, customization capabilities and integrated investment solutions rather than individual products alone.
SEI provides technology, investment processing and asset management services to financial institutions, advisors, institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals worldwide.
