LANCASTER, PA — A Lancaster city man was sentenced to 18 to 40 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges of criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and aggravated assault.

Tyler Gonzalez-Inthiphan, 23 of the 100 block of E. Liberty St., was sentenced by Lancaster County Judge Jeffrey Wright after entering a negotiated plea between counsel.

“Given his comparative culpability and his cooperation at trial against his co-defendant, the Commonwealth believes that this a fair resolution,” said First Assistant District Attorney Todd Brown, who also noted he received input from the victim’s family during the negotiations.

Brown prosecuted and detailed the facts of the case before the court during the hearing, which consisted of Gonzalez-Inthiphan and co-defendant Joshua Luciano discharging firearms out of a blue Acura MDX following a disputed marijuana deal at the Motor Lodge on Route 340 on March 19, 2020, around 1:18 a.m.

One victim – 21-year-old Alexander Rivera – was killed by a gunshot wound to the head and a 25-year-old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Brown mentioned that evidence showed Luciano fired the fatal shot and Gonzalez-Inthiphan cooperated with the prosecution in Luciano’s trial after initially giving false information.

Luciano was convicted by a jury of criminal homicide and related charges in December 2022 and sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 67 years.

East Lampeter Township Detective Christopher Jones filed charges.
