KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Kennett Collaborative has announced its annual Plant Sale at Pratt’s Greenhouse, scheduled for May 4-5, aiming to fund the seasonal beautification efforts in Kennett Square. This event invites the community to enhance their own gardens while contributing to the public flower plantings that adorn the town’s streets and spaces.

The sale offers a variety of spring annuals and perennials, carefully selected to thrive in Kennett Square’s unique environment. “The beautiful floral displays along State Street have long been a hallmark of Kennett Square, drawing visitors from around the globe, partly due to the proximity of the renowned Longwood Gardens,” stated Daniel Embree, Executive Director of Kennett Collaborative. He highlighted the pivotal role of volunteers and local organizations, including garden clubs and Pratt’s Greenhouse, in maintaining the town’s picturesque appeal.

Bill Reynolds, the proprietor of Pratt’s Greenhouse, plays a crucial role in this initiative, choosing plant varieties best suited for the locality’s conditions. Additionally, the Borough of Kennett Square’s Public Works department ensures these planters receive necessary care throughout the growing season, extending into winter with festive greens.

The event is not just a plant sale but a community effort to keep Kennett Square vibrant and welcoming. Pratt’s Greenhouse has committed to donating 20% of the proceeds from the sale to the Beautification Committee, which spearheads the planting of these flowers in various uptown locations. By participating in the Kennett Blooms! Plant Sale, residents have the opportunity to directly contribute to the aesthetic enhancement of their town.

Scheduled from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday, May 4, and from 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday, May 5, at 634 Hillendale Rd, Avondale, PA, the event promises to offer something for every gardener looking to add color and life to their personal spaces while supporting a worthy cause.
