LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP, PA — Motorists traveling Ridge Pike in Lower Providence Township should prepare for four days of changing traffic patterns and potentially significant delays beginning Tuesday, November 17, as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) shifts vehicles onto newly reconstructed lanes near Germantown Pike in Montgomery County.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Ridge Pike, between Germantown Pike and Crosskeys Road.
- Dates: Tuesday, November 17, through Friday, November 20, 2026.
- Times: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM daily.
- Reason: Traffic shifts onto newly reconstructed lanes as part of roadway improvements.
Drivers will be redirected onto newly reconstructed sections of Ridge Pike during the scheduled daytime operations. PennDOT warns that significant backups and delays may occur through the construction area.
Motorists should plan extra travel time, remain alert for changing lane configurations and follow posted traffic controls.
The restrictions are part of a $26.2 million project to relocate the Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike intersection approximately 1,300 feet east of its current location, where a new traffic signal will be installed.
The project also includes a new Germantown Pike connector road extending southwest to Pechins Mill Road, a roundabout connecting the new roadway with an extension of River Road, additional turning lanes, Ridge Pike widening and stormwater drainage improvements.
Allan Myers Inc. of Worcester is the general contractor. The project is financed entirely with federal funds.
All scheduled construction activities are weather dependent.
