Police Chase Leads to Capture of Car Theft Suspects

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have announced the arrest of two men and recovered a stolen motor vehicle.

The criminal complaint alleges that on October 10, at approximately 1:11 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the 600 block of East 6th Street, when they observed a stolen motor vehicle. Police attempted to make contact with 18-year-old Joseph Carter and a 17-year-old male juvenile who fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, both subjects were taken into custody without incident.

Carter has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 cash-only bail.

The 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:

  • Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Resisting Arrest

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on $6,000 cash-only bail.
