PHILADELPHIA, PA — As Philadelphia prepares to host international soccer matches this summer, Yards Brewing Company is positioning its Northern Liberties taproom as a gathering place for fans with a month-long schedule of watch parties, themed food and drinks, merchandise, and tournament-related events.
The brewery’s soccer programming will run from June 11 through July 6 at its Spring Garden Street location, coinciding with the international tournament that will bring teams and supporters from around the world to North America and several matches to Philadelphia.
Yards said it plans to show nearly every tournament match throughout the competition, with featured viewing events for Team USA games and other high-profile international matchups.
“Philadelphia is one of the great sports cities in the world, and we’re excited to welcome soccer fans from across the globe during the World Cup,” said Tom Kehoe, founder of Yards Brewing Company. “Whether you’re cheering for Team USA, your home country, or just looking for a great place to watch the matches, Yards is ready to be part of the celebration.”
To mark the tournament, the brewery has created The Equalizer, a Keller Helles lager brewed specifically for the event, alongside Team BLU.S.A., a frozen cocktail made with vodka, blue raspberry, and lemon. A special menu will feature North American-inspired items including poutine, tostadas, and apple pie.
Fans attending Team USA matches will also have the opportunity to enter raffles for prizes including a 40-inch television and Yards gift cards. One complimentary entry will be provided per attendee for each U.S. match.
In addition, Yards is collaborating with the American Outlaws Philadelphia Chapter 19 and Top Tomato Bar on a limited-edition soccer jersey available exclusively at participating locations while supplies last.
The brewery expects some of its largest crowds during Team USA matches, as well as games featuring traditional soccer powers such as Argentina, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
