WYOMISSING, PA — PENN Entertainment (Nasdaq: PENN) has launched three online gambling apps in Alberta, expanding its Canadian digital business as the province opens its regulated market to private sportsbook and casino operators.
The company introduced theScore Bet Sportsbook & Casino, theScore Casino and Hollywood Casino across Alberta on iOS, Android and the web. The expansion builds on PENN’s existing online gaming operations in Ontario.
TheScore Bet combines sports wagering with scores, news and statistics from theScore’s media platform. Alberta customers can place pregame and live bets, including same-game parlays and player propositions.
The app also offers online casino games, including slots, table games and live-dealer products. PENN launched separate theScore Casino and Hollywood Casino apps for customers seeking casino-only platforms.
The Alberta rollout gives PENN another Canadian market for its integrated media and wagering strategy, which uses theScore’s sports audience to attract betting customers. The company did not disclose expected revenue, customer targets or spending associated with the launch.
“Fans already know and trust theScore, and with theScore Bet, we’re extending that connection into a seamless sportsbook and casino experience,” Aaron LaBerge, PENN’s chief technology officer and head of interactive, stated.
LaBerge also credited Alberta’s government with establishing a regulated online gaming market for private operators.
PENN’s Canadian partnerships include agreements with the Toronto Blue Jays, Golf Canada, the National Hockey League and the PGA Tour. The company is the exclusive official gaming partner of the Blue Jays and the exclusive gaming partner of Golf Canada.
The available casino content includes Blue Jays Blackjack, the Dancing Drums series and the Sweet Bonanza series, according to PENN.
