PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers traveling through Northeast Philadelphia should prepare for overnight closures on Tacony Street next week as bridge construction continues on the Interstate 95 reconstruction project. Motorists should plan extra time, expect delays and follow the posted detours.
At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Tacony Street
- Dates: Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24
- Times: 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning
- Reason: Overhead bridge construction
Tacony Street will be closed between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street during the overnight work.
Northbound drivers will be directed to use Aramingo/Harbison Avenue before turning right onto Bridge Street to reconnect with Tacony Street.
Southbound drivers will be directed to turn right onto Bridge Street, then left onto Aramingo/Harbison Avenue to return to Tacony Street.
Motorists should allow extra travel time near the work zone and along the detour because backups and delays are expected. All scheduled work is weather dependent.
The closure is part of PennDOT’s ongoing I-95/BS2 project, which will reconstruct Interstate 95 in both directions between Margaret Street and Carver Street.
