PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of nighttime lane closures next week on Interstate 95 in South Philadelphia and Delaware County to conduct essential bridge repairs under a $37.4 million infrastructure improvement project.
From Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, a northbound lane will be closed nightly between Packer Avenue and Christian Street in Philadelphia from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Additionally, on Tuesday, July 29, a southbound lane in the same stretch will be closed overnight during those same hours.
More extensive restrictions are scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31, in Ridley Township, Delaware County. A single lane closure on southbound I-95 between U.S. 13 (Chester Pike) and Stewart Avenue will begin at 9:00 PM, followed by a double lane closure from midnight to 5:00 AM.
These activities are part of PennDOT’s ongoing effort to preserve and enhance high-priority bridge structures along critical transportation corridors. The project involves repairs to deteriorating bridge decks, superstructures, and substructure components to ensure long-term safety and mobility.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when traveling through these zones, as traffic delays are expected. All work is weather dependent.
