THORNTON, PA — State Senator John I. Kane, the sole Master Plumber in the Pennsylvania State Senate, recently announced the allocation of over $11 million in H2O and Small Water and Sewer (SWS) grants. The funds will support various initiatives throughout Pennsylvania’s 9th district, aiming to enhance infrastructure and public health.
The H2O and SWS grants are specifically earmarked for the construction, improvement, expansion, repair, or rehabilitation of water supply and sanitary sewer systems. These funds play a crucial role in maintaining and improving water quality and sanitation, directly impacting public health and residents’ quality of life.
Senator Kane expressed enthusiasm about the announcement, emphasizing the significance of these grants in enhancing the district’s water and sewer infrastructure. “I’m pumped to announce these significant grants that will substantially enhance our district’s water and sewer infrastructure, ensuring that folks throughout the 9th District have access to clean and safe water,” said Senator Kane. “This funding represents a significant investment in the future health and water safety in our communities. Our motto at the plumbers was ‘we protect the health of the nation.’ I’m proud to continue that work here in the Senate.”
The grant allocation is seen as a major victory for the 9th district. It promises to improve the quality and reliability of water services, contribute to public health, and support community prosperity and growth.
Among the recipients of the H2O grants are the West Goshen Sewer Authority, Chester Water Authority, Birmingham Township, Borough of Kennett Square, Nether Providence Township, and Middletown Township Sewer Authority.
SWS grants were awarded to several entities, including Bethel Township Sewer Authority, Chester Township, Lower Chichester Township, Brookhaven Borough, Upland Borough, Avondale Borough, Chester Heights Borough, West Grove Borough, Westtown Township, Aston Township, Middletown Township Sewer Authority, Southern Delaware County Authority, Thornbury Township, Southwest Delaware County Municipal Authority, and Marcus Hook Borough.
Senator Kane congratulated all the recipients, stating, “These funds represent our commitment to ensuring that everyone in our district, and ultimately our entire Commonwealth, has access to clean, safe water.
