NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — The rhythms of an 18th-century harvest will return to a Delaware County farm as visitors gather to celebrate the work, gratitude, and community that once accompanied the changing of the seasons.
The Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead will host Harvest Home on Sept. 26, inviting visitors to explore a tradition rooted in English agricultural customs brought to colonial Pennsylvania.
Harvest Home marked the successful gathering of the year’s crops and the transition toward autumn. The celebration recognized both the labor required to bring in the harvest and the sense of community surrounding the season’s bounty.
The setting offers its own connection to Pennsylvania’s agricultural past. The Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead is a 112-acre living history farm museum within Ridley Creek State Park, where the nonprofit educational organization preserves and interprets colonial-era life.
