NORRISTOWN, PA — MRO acquired Vyne Medical to add automated clinical data intake and document-processing capabilities to its healthcare data platform, creating a combined business serving more than 2,500 hospitals and 35,000 clinics.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Vyne Medical provides data intake and intelligent document-processing technology to more than 800 hospitals nationwide. Its systems convert information from paper documents, voice recordings, faxes and images into structured digital data used in clinical and financial workflows.
The acquisition extends MRO’s Enterprise Clinical Data Management platform to information entering healthcare organizations outside electronic medical record systems. The combined technology is designed to classify, extract and route high volumes of incoming information while using human review for tasks requiring additional judgment.
“Some of the most valuable data in a health system is often trapped in a fax, a phone call, or a scanned document outside the EMR, invisible to the teams who need it, and regularly rekeyed by hand to inform another workflow,” MRO Chief Executive Officer Jason Brown stated.
Brown described the acquisition as allowing MRO to capture that information when it enters a provider’s workflow, convert it into structured clinical data and direct it to other systems where needed.
Vyne Medical President Caleb Manscill stated that the company has spent more than 25 years working to connect data contained in documents, faxes, images, voice and other unstructured sources.
Vyne Medical will operate as “Vyne Medical, an MRO Company” during a transition period.
Vyne Dental, formerly a sister company of Vyne Medical, was not included in the transaction and remains a portfolio company of TJC, L.P.
Lincoln International served as exclusive financial adviser to Vyne Medical and TJC, while Kirkland & Ellis LLP served as legal counsel.
