FORT WASHINGTON, PA — Senator Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery) has announced the allocation of nearly $1.25 million in grants aimed at upgrading security measures and ensuring the well-being of students. The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) is at the helm of this funding initiative, which encompasses both public and nonpublic educational institutions within the 12th District.
With the ever-present concern for children’s safety as they attend school, these grants are designed to equip local schools with state-of-the-art resources necessary for creating a secure learning environment. “Our children’s safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of our minds as we send them off to school each day,” remarked Senator Collett, emphasizing the grants’ role in adopting a high-quality approach to school safety.
Among the recipients of the Targeted School Safety and Security Grant for Nonpublic Schools, notable allocations include $70,000 to the Academy of the New Church Boys School and $75,000 to Dock Mennonite Academy, among others. Additionally, the School Safety and Security Grant Program will benefit institutions such as Martin Luther School and Souderton Area School District, with awards intended for physical security enhancements and behavioral health supports.
