NORRISTOWN, PA — The Montgomery County Board of Elections has released upcoming deadlines, information, and request for volunteers for the 2023 election cycle.

“We are proud to work with nearly 2,800 Montgomery County residents and qualified high school students to staff polling locations, as well as canvass absentee and mail-in ballots,” said Kenneth E. Lawrence Jr., Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Elections. “We need additional volunteers to staff the polls in Towamencin, Upper Moreland, Lower Moreland, Cheltenham, and Plymouth. Any resident who has an interest in working with us is invited to contact our Voter Services Office.”

Voters are encouraged to check their voter profile online at www.vote.pa.gov. This portal allows residents to check their registered address, party affiliation, find their polling location, and confirm if they are approved to vote by mail this November. Mail-in ballots are only sent to residents who apply and will be mailed in mid-October after the ballot has been certified.

Residents should only submit one application for a mail-in ballot, as any additional applications will be rejected.

2023 General Election Deadlines:

  • Monday, October 23, 2023: Deadline to register to vote in the general election (postmarks do not apply)

  • Tuesday, November 14, 2023: Last day to receive military and overseas absentee ballots

Registering to Vote & Updating Voter Information: the Montgomery County Board of Elections strongly encourages all residents to check their voter registration online at www.vote.pa.gov to ensure all information in your Voter Profile is up to date. Residents must be registered to vote or make any changes or updates to their voter registration by October 23, 2023, to vote in the General Election on November 7, 2023.

“We encourage everyone to check their voter registration before October 23, 2023, to make sure their information is up to date,” said Lee Soltysiak, Chief Clerk of the Montgomery County Board of Elections. “The portal available on www.vote.pa.gov provides a wealth of information to voters. It’s a one-stop-shop for any voter who is not sure if we have the correct information on file, needs to find their polling location, or wants to know if they can expect to receive a ballot by mail for the November election.”

Absentee & Mail-In Ballots: Residents must apply to vote by mail by October 31, 2023.

Secure Ballot Drop BoxesTwelve secure ballot drop boxes will again be staffed by Montgomery County Voter Education Teams. The staff are on site to aid voters who are returning their ballots, ensuring that all ballots are properly packaged, signed, and dated. The drop boxes will be available from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., from October 28, 2023, until November 7, 2023. Ballots placed in the secure ballot boxes will be delivered daily to Montgomery County Voter Services by County deputy sheriffs, and date stamped when they are received.

Remember, voters are only allowed to return their own ballot to a Secure Ballot Drop Box. Voters who are unable to return their own ballot due to a disability as defined under the American with Disability Act may use a Designated Agent to return their ballot, but must complete a specific form.

Satellite Voter Services Offices: The County will operate satellite offices in Lansdale, Willow Grove, Pottstown and Lower Merion. Any resident can visit an office location to register to vote or update their voter registration (by October 23), apply to vote by mail, or receive their mail-in ballot “on demand.” No appointments are needed. Voters can also return their mail-in or absentee ballot to a satellite office during operating hours. The Voter Services primary office at One Montgomery Plaza in Norristown can also supply these services from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office will also have weekend hours available.

Residents can find operating hours and exact locations for Secure Ballot Drop Boxes and Satellite Offices at www.montgomerycountypa.gov/voterservices.
