PHILADELPHIA, PA — A morning run, drag performances, karaoke, and a double dose of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will fill Manayunk with a day of entertainment and community as Out & About in MNYK returns to Historic Main Street.
The Oct. 3 celebration brings LGBTQ+ performers, community organizations, and local businesses together for programming tied to National Coming Out Day. Organized by the Manayunk Development Corporation, the event includes free daytime activities followed by two ticketed evening performances at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center.
“Out & About in MNYK highlights the diversity and heart of Manayunk,” Manayunk Development Corporation Event Manager Carla Ferro said. “We’re proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community and create a space where everyone feels seen, celebrated and welcomed.”
The day begins at 9 a.m. with Philadelphia Runner’s Out & About 5K with Queer Run and Hoka. The roughly three-mile group run is free and open to all, with Hoka joining the event with demo shoes and other activities.
At 11 a.m., attention shifts to Art Alley on Gay Street, where Brittany Lynn, known as the “Don” of Philly Drag Mafia, will host a free outdoor Drag Story Time. Philly Drag Mafia has participated in Out & About since the event began in 2019.
The group returns at 1 p.m. for an open-air drag show with DJ Da Boo Boo, followed at 2 p.m. by a karaoke dance party hosted by Brittany Lynn and featuring Da Boo Boo.
Community organizations participating during the celebration include AccessMatters, Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence and Philadelphia FIGHT.

The celebration moves indoors in the evening as Philadelphia-based Transylvanian Nipple Productions brings its live shadowcast of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” to Venice Island Performing Arts Center.
The company has been shadowcasting the cult classic since 1997 and will perform alongside screenings at 6 and 9 p.m., with doors opening at 5:15 and 8:15 p.m., respectively. Costumes and audience participation are encouraged, and prop bags will be available for purchase in the lobby.
Each “Rocky Horror” ticket holder will also be entered into a raffle for a basket assembled with contributions from local bookshops, Cupid’s and Thrillerdelphia. One winner will be selected at each performance. Tickets are available at eventbrite.com/e/1998440976758?aff=oddtdtcreator.
The festivities will extend into Main Street businesses throughout the day. Participating restaurants and bars will offer specials and additional programming, including a Halloween Drag Brunch at The Brass Tap-Philly and a costume disco at US Hotel Bar & Grill.
